Bass players:

What would you strive for if you had no doubts about your playing?

You’ve been playing your instrument for a while, you’ve gone through all the technique and method books there are, and you’ve made progress…but you’ve been feeling stuck.

Sometimes you have a breakthrough in your playing, but it never lasts.

I work with bassists all the time who feel limited by their playing, but don’t know how to fix it.

Maybe you...

  • struggle to get challenging music up to speed in time, and end up feeling like the weakest link in the ensemble.
  • aren’t advancing in auditions, no matter how much time and energy you spend practicing. You don’t sound the way you want to, but can’t seem to figure out how to get there.
  • want to be getting called for more and better gigs, but know you need to level up your playing first.
  • have so many projects you want to pursue, but fear there’s a ceiling to what you can actually accomplish on the instrument.

Imagine having faith in your ability and in your process to achieve anything you want on the instrument and in your career.

You’d take that audition.

You’d finally go for that big project you’ve been dreaming of making.

You’d even email that contractor, knowing your playing isn’t limiting you from getting the gig you want.

You’d go for the thing that, deep down, you’re pining for…the thing you know you’d regret not pursuing.

“Since working with Lauren, I’ve felt a genuine sense of freedom in the way I play. I’m no longer afraid to tackle challenging repertoire.

Before working with Lauren, I was burned out and searching for patience with music. I was craving creativity and adventure with the bass, but I didn’t know how to reconnect with it.

One moment that truly stood out to me was when she told me to be gentle with myself and choose pieces that inspire me, knowing that later I would come back to them with my own artistic vision on how I see it played on the bass. Her expertise in virtuosity helped me see that anyone can achieve it, including me.

Because of her guidance, my relationship with the bass is more grounded, expressive, and personal than ever before. I’m incredibly grateful for the transformation her mentorship has given me.”

Introducing:

The Virtuosity Blueprint

*Spaces are limited to 10 participants

A 6-month group program for bass players that bridges the gap between where you are now and the musician you know you’re capable of becoming.

This is where bassists come to transform.

The Virtuosity Blueprint gives you the structure, support, and expert guidance to:

  • Strengthen your technique at a deep, sustainable level
  • Expand your musical and technical boundaries without hurting yourself or burning out
  • Develop reliable skills to tackle any repertoire, any tempo, any challenge
  • Build momentum, confidence, and clarity in your practicing
  • Finally become the musician you hear in your head

What’s Possible for You

By the end of the program, you’ll:

  • Have strong, refined technique you can count on. You’ll experience real growth in your sound, control, and accuracy, and you’ll play with less tension and a lot more trust in yourself.
  • Understand exactly how to practice to see consistent improvement in a way that works for your schedule and your brain.
  • Be able to learn any repertoire with confidence
  • Feel empowered to pursue auditions, better gigs, recitals, or ambitious projects

And most importantly? You’ll know you’re no longer held back by your fundamentals.

Hi, I’m Lauren Pierce

I’m a musician, teacher, voracious reader, and lover of deep and meaningful conversations.

I’ve spent my career teaching, mentoring, and coaching bassists around the world, helping them master their technique, gain confidence, and expand what they believe is possible, not only on the instrument, but within themselves.

I created The Virtuosity Blueprint because I’ve seen firsthand that most bassists don’t struggle because they lack talent or discipline. They struggle because they haven’t been taught how to build their foundational technique or refine their process.

This program distills everything I’ve learned about mastering technique, growing as an artist, and pushing your playing to its full potential. Along with the supportive group environment of other bassists in the same mindset, the curriculum is guided and tailored to you.

As an artist, I understand that pining, deep in your gut, to make the art you know you’re meant to do, that deep desire to strive for the things you know you deserve – and I also know what it feels like to need guidance along the way. It excites me to help artists like you achieve the things you dream about.

How It Works

The Virtuosity Blueprint is a 6-month hybrid group-coaching experience for bass players that includes:

Weekly Group Class

Structured progressive lessons designed to strengthen your fundamentals, expand your facility, and give you reliable practice methods.

1:1 Sessions with Me

Personalized feedback, technique troubleshooting, and direct support on your playing and practice.

Community

A cohort of driven bassists who support, motivate, and learn from one another.

6 Months of Expert Guidance

I’m with you every step of the way.

“Working with Lauren was genuinely transformative for my playing and my career.

The open-string bowing drills she has us all begin with completely reshaped the way I listen. It seems so monotonous, but I learned to listen to all of the note (beginning, middle, and end) with higher fidelity and I really began understanding what caused sounds with the bow, good and bad. Now I can quickly make adjustments while playing to get the attack and tone I’m looking for because I took the time to really learn what I was doing.

What surprised me most was the internal shift. Being in The Virtuosity Blueprint and having the chance to work with Lauren gave me permission to believe in myself. I had a lot of technique to work on for sure but Lauren fostered an environment that really helped me quiet my inner voices and turn them into positive affirmations.

I have since learned and performed pieces of music I had attempted but was never able to master, and now have a full schedule getting called to play with the top ensembles in the city.

Also, the community is amazing. Having colleagues, friends, and fellow bass nerds from across the world is incredible. I still support and stay in contact with folks years later.”

I’m super busy! How can I possibly make this work?

I know all about being a busy musician and, in fact, have spent the entirety of my career teaching students who have full lives. Some of my best students have been ones who work a full-time job, have kids, and have a full social life, but we make it work together.

This program is not designed for someone who has nothing going on in their life. It’s meant to be malleable to where YOU are right now.

Despite popular belief, you don’t need to practice 6 hours a day to see awesome results. I’ll teach you to practice more efficiently so you can spend less hours getting better results. All I ask from you is open-mindedness, willingness, and consistency.

Remember, it’s the quality of our practice that matters, not quantity.

“I’ve gained real conviction in my abilities as a performer and composer, and renewed confidence in my direction and drive.

I was feeling stifled and trapped in my playing. I had done a lot of work to develop ease and efficiency with the instrument, but there were some fundamental blockages with my technique interfering with my ease. I was also feeling mentally blocked as a result of impostor syndrome, and just feeling conflicted in terms of my personal practice. It was slowing down my development and exacerbating the feeling of being trapped.

The Virtuosity Blueprint was an incredible experience across the board. Lauren is a phenomenal teacher, speaker, and listener, and I was able to develop a new understanding of and confidence in my playing and performance. My hands move with so much more ease and agility and I feel like playing my bass has never been more natural and immediately accessible. My hands do the thing without having to think about it, in all registers of the bass.

I feel more in tune with my bass than ever, and it’s closer to being an extension of my body. I’ve even made serious headway as a composer, completing my first bass concerto in the short time we’ve worked together.

I cannot think of anyone better I would want to work with. Lauren listens, laughs, pushes, and plays, all at the highest level. Lauren is able to do it all for her students, while being incredibly approachable and human, and I feel like everyone would benefit from studying with her.”

“I think I’ve developed more in this program with Lauren than I have in my first 20 years of playing!

The Virtuosity Blueprint has been an amazing experience. I had very little experience/training with the bow before taking this course and that was an area of my playing that I really wanted to improve. The class is a great mix of bassists of all different playing levels. The beauty of Lauren’s teaching approach is that it suits everyone’s needs. She gives you the tools/concepts to progress and your success really has a lot to do with how you the student apply her techniques. It’s a fantastic approach to learning the bass (any instrument really) that I will be incorporating for the rest of my life!

Over the last few years it seemed whenever I googled a question on how to do something on the bass, a video by Lauren Pierce would show up. What struck me was how clearly she was able to explain things in a video. This skill has translated  seamlessly to “live” video. Lauren has the unique ability to watch you on a screen and give you valuable feedback on your performance. Whether it be an exercise or a piece of music, she is able to pinpoint your strengths/weaknesses and clearly articulate how to improve your playing. I think I’ve developed more in this program with Lauren than I have in my first 20 years of playing!

No matter what level your bass playing is at, Lauren Pierce has valuable insight on how to take you to another level.”
